Saarlotta Virri (b. 1993) is a documentary filmmaker living and working in Helsinki. Her films navigate the space between playfulness and sorrow, often finding surprising ways to deal with collective and private grief as well as the transience of everything. Instead of individualist stories, she has focused on exploring the cacophony of collective voices and the human relationship with their immediate surroundings. She works mainly with 16mm film and finds herself most at ease at the border between the real and the imagined.
